“FOR COLORED GIRLS” TOPS DVD SALES

Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” opened at No. 1 on the latest national DVD sales chart, beating a pair of other new releases that did better at the box office. “Girls” ($38 million box office) overshadowed “Life As We Know It“ ($53 million) at No. 2 and “Paranormal Activity 2“ ($85 million) at No. 3

Last Train To Paris Debuts @ No. 7 On Billboard!

Diddy Dirty Money‘s highly publicized, Last Train To Paris pulled in 100,900 paying passengers in it’s first week, debuting at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Diddy’s first album since 2006’s Press Play was only predicted to move 60,000-65,000 units by industry insider Hitsdailydouble.com

Michael Jackson also returned to the charts for the first time since his 2001, Invincible album.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, the singer’s posthumous release, Michael moved 228,200 records after a week in stores, landing at the No. 3 position. The collection of unfinished recordings, took the No. 1 slot in Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Sweden.

Pink Friday continues to produce; pushing an additional 97,500 CDs off the shelves over the last week, making Nicki Minaj‘s four-week total 658,400. Barbie comes in at No. 8 on the charts.

T.I.‘s latest disc, No Mercy moved another 69,400 in its second week (slipping form No. 2 to No. 21 on the chart), making his two week total equal 229,100.

Eminem received another boost in sales after fans purchased an additional 68,500 copies of Recovery, landing him at the No. 22 spot. In 26-weeks, Em has sold 3,214,300 discs.

Kanye‘s latest opus, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy stands at the No. 23 slot moving 66,100 copies, making its total stand at 738,100.

First Week Sales: Kanye West Goes Gold!

 

Hits Daily Double has just released their sales tally chart for last weeks albums… with Kanye West’s MBDTF moving 518,775 units – Nick Minaj’s Pink Friday scanning 371,049 units and Rihanna moves another 133,662 units of her Loud album it’s second week in stores.   Ne-Yo’s new album Libra Scale came in at #8 with sales of 117,800 units its first week out. Poor 1st Week Sales For Lloyd Banks & Jay-Z!

Rihanna Projected #2 w/ 200k First Week Sales…..

Grammy-winning singer Rihanna’s Rated R will reportedly debut next week with estimated sales of around 200,000, based on one-day projections. While the numbers are still being calculated, RiRi is likely to debut behind reality television star Susan Boyle who is projected to move 600k First week.

That’s right, folks, the team of Barnett and Boyle, as in Columbia’s fearless leader Steve, will be #1 next week with a total that right now appears more than 600k and, dare we say it, could go even higher. Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna, whose new album Rated R has been getting stellar reviews in the L.A. and N.Y. Times and Rolling Stone, is on line for 180-200k. A couple of Cash Money/Universal Republic acts in Jay Sean and Birdman are the other new releases, both trending in the 30-35k range. (Hits Daily Double).

Weekly Sales Wrap Up: Men Lie, Woman Lie, But The Numbers Don’t

In this week’s Sales Wrap, Michael Jackson returns to become the king once again, Jay-Z holds down Top 10 and new releases from Tech N9ne, Z-Ro, Triple C’s and more debut on the charts.

Proving his memory still carries on, the late Michael Jackson’s This Is It soundtrack managed to debut at No. 1 this week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the iconic singer’s compilation disc moved 373,800 records after seven days in stores.

Grammy-winning rapper Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 took a slight six-position dip but managed to land at No. 10 with 40,700. After two months on store shelves, Hovi’s 11th number one album has sold 1,200,100 pieces to date.

Pop group Black Eyed PeasE.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) fell out of the Top 10 moving downward seven slots to No. 13 with 30,200. With 21 weeks to their names, the group’s latest offering has secured 1,300,000 sold discs.

Rap veteran Tech N9ne‘s K.O.D. debuted onto the charts this week securing a spot at No. 14. Tech’s new album was able to push out 29,900 records after seven days in stores.

R&B singer Brian McKnight made his return to store shelves as Evolution Of A Man opened at No. 20. Headed into just his second week, the singer’s latest effort has generated 24,400 sold discs.

Award-winning singer Whitney Houston‘s I Look To You dropped ten spots to No. 30 with 15,200. After nine weeks in the books, the singer’s comeback album rests at 765,500 secured units.

Renowned singer Mariah Carey‘s Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel took a slight hit dropping 17 slots to No. 31 with 14,900. Nick Cannon‘s wife has been able to move 290,400 records after five weeks in stores.

Young Money’s Drake has taken a hit, too, as So Far Gone dropped 14 positions to No. 37 with 13,300. After seven weeks, the rap newcomer’s retail re-release rests at 210,700.

Rick Ross and Triple C’s Custom Cars & Cycles got off to a rough start this week debuting at No. 44. With seven days in the books, the group’s debut Def Jam release has sold 12,100 records.

Singer Trey Songz‘s Ready evens things out in Top 50 by dropping 12 slots to No. 49 with 11,300. After nine weeks on the charts, the singer’s new album has moved 294,200 pieces.

The late Michael Jackson compilation disc, Selections From Michael Jackson, also debuted onto the charts at No. 91 with 6,100 sold records in its first week.

Canadian hip-hop group Swollen MembersArmed To The Teeth debuted at No. 146 this week moving a total of 3,500 records after seven days on store shelves.

Texas rapper Z-Ro’s Cocaine also debuted onto the charts landing at No. 147 with 3,500 pieces to his name heading into week two.
