Two children are fighting for their lives after their mother shot them this week before killing herself during a standoff at a South Texas welfare office.

Authorities said Tuesday that 12-year-old Ramie Grimmer and her 10-year-old brother, Timothy, were in “very critical” condition at University Hospital in San Antonio. Their 38-year-old mother Rachelle pulled out a gun in a state welfare office and staged a seven-hour standoff after she wasn’t able to qualify for food stamps.

Southwest Detectives say Richard Jones, 26, drove up to the bar on Westminster and Belmont, jumped out of his vehicle and went to the door, AK-47 in hand. When he couldn’t get the door open, he began shooting. When he finished, he ran to catch his car, which had rolled down the street. “I guess you chalk it up to, he’s not the brightest of criminals,” Captain Ben Naish tells NBC Philadelphia. As Jones chased his moving vehicle, he fired one shot at police. He missed. From there, the suspect walked into a woman’s home in Manayunk and terrorized her before heading to Lafayette Hills where his car broke down. Police tell NBC Philadelphia that Jones got out of his car and tossed the AK-47 in a resident’s backyard.”

Steve Francis Accused Of Sexual Assault

Former basketball star Steve Francis is being accused of sexual assaulting a woman in Texas last year.

According to reports by TMZ:

Francis allegedly “groped” a 20-year-old woman through her clothing in May 2010 … and the woman immediately went to the cops to file a complaint.

The alleged victim tells TMZ … she is a singer who was signed to Steve’s record label and on the day of the alleged incident, she had met Steve at an office to discuss her contract.

The woman, Shauna Simien, tells us the “groping” while the two were talking outside, when Francis reached down and grabbed her between the legs.

Simien claims she screamed for him to stop — and that’s when a few of her friends, whom she brought along for protection, rushed over to break things up.

Despite the fact Simien filed her police report more than a YEAR ago, law enforcement sources tell TMZ the case is still open and no charges have been filed.

Simien says she is frustrated the case has not progressed and is considering a lawsuit against the District Attorney’s office.

The 27-year-old’s husband was away overseas duty serving with the US military. Colleps, an English teacher and girl’s basketball coach, faces up to ten years in jail after being charged with five felony counts of inappropriate relationships between a student and a teacher. Although all five of the teens involved with Colleps were 18 years of age or older, Texas law prohibits sex between a teacher and a student, regardless of the student�s age.”
