SMDH: G-Dep Turns Himself In For Murder!

G-Dep, who rocked out with Diddy and Black Rob on 2001’s “Let’s Get It” from P. Diddy & The Family:  The Saga Continues album which helped spawn the “Harlem Shake” dance to the masses, has turned himself into police for a murder he says he committed 17 years ago.

According to The New York Post, G-Dep, whose real name is Trevell Coleman, walked into the 25th Precinct in New York and confessed to the cold case.

The 36-year-old G-Dep who was 18 at the time of the crime  told police,

“I shot and killed someone 17 years ago.”

The murder  reportedly happened on October 19, 1993 outside the James Weldon Johnson Houses when G-Dep attempted to rob John Henkel.

G-Dep, whose rap name was short for “Ghetto Dependent,” grew up in those projects and told police officers he was riding a bicycle when he approached the 32-year-old Henkel  on Park Avenue and East 114th Street and announced a robbery.

The former Bad Boy records  rapper told police  detective William Dunn that Henkel resisted and grabbed his .40-caliber gun. He allegedly admitted that he pulled away and shot his victim three times in the chest.

Coleman then said  he fled and tossed the weapon into the East River.

The victim was taken  to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives stated that the crime “had been eating away at him.”

G-Dep has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail and has over 25 arrest since 2003 from charges that include burglary and drugs.

All you can do is pray for all those involved with this one…

Puffy Speaks On His Brief Time In The Drug Game.

For Diddy it may have been all about the Benjamins but it wasn’t by any means necessary. In his interview with Playboy, he revealed how almost getting popped made him reconsider his “Frank White” and King Of New York dreams.

“Some of my friends were selling drugs in the Maryland and (Washington) D.C. area. I remember them having all this jewelry and new BMWs. I was eating ramen noodles, stealing from the 7-Eleven to get some food. I thought, ‘I need to get some money like y’all have.’ So I go out on the block, the strip where they’re selling drugs, and my man says, ‘OK, I’m going to give you this. You wait there. They’ll come up to you.’

I’m out there five minutes when three cop cars pull up and officers jump out and start chasing me. I ran and got away. We reconvene in the same place two hours later. This time it’s dark, and all of a sudden a van pulls up. Cops jump out and start chasing me again. There’s a helicopter overhead with a light following me through the woods.”
Puff then continued with the story where he finally met up with his boys hours later and started to really reconsider his choice.

“I wanted to go home, but I didn’t know how to punk out and tell them. The cops were outside, and we heard them coming up the stairs (but) they were responding to a couple having an argument below us… I turned unto a scared white Harvard (University) student. God was sending me signals.

I told my friends, ‘Thanks, y’all, but no thanks. This game is not for me.’ I walked out that door, and I ain’t been around nobody with no drugs. I don’t want to see no drugs. I’m probably the shortest-duration drug dealer in history. That’s why you never heard me talk about it in my rhymes.”
