ASAP Rocky Speaks On $3 Million Deal!

New York rapper ASAP Rocky was just starting buzz when he signed his deal with Polo Grounds Music/RCA earlier this month.

So what made the NYC newcomer sign his name to the dotted line so quickly?

Well, according to the rapper, “About three million dollars.”

“[Other rappers who don’t sign] are smart, but I feel like Sony/RCA is a family and the people there actually care about me,” ASAP Rocky said to Pitchfork.

“When I came to meet [Polo Grounds Music founder] Bryan Leach, I got to know him on a personal level– he would set up car service for me to go to other labels.”

“He wanted to see me make it. He’s from Harlem.”

To breakdown Rocky’s deal, $1.7 million goes towards his solo projects, while $1.3 million will fund his A$AP Worldwide imprint.

“I’m going to have creative control; there’s no bullsh*t,”
he said.

“The situation is almost unrealistic. I mean, five months ago I had about $3,000 in my bank account. Now I’m worth $3 million.”

“Nobody’s gotten a deal like that since 50 Cent.”

A $3 million record deal for a kid that’s only really been out for a few months? What recession?

ASAP Rocky’s LIVELOVEA$AP mixtape is scheduled to drop on Monday.

Stay Out: DMX Is Finally Home!

According to reports, X was released from Yuma Prison this morning after serving seven months of a one-year sentence for violating his probation.

The 40-year-old rapper was sentenced to one year in prison on December 16, 2010 for violating his probation, which stemmed from an assault conviction, by failing to take a drug test and driving on a suspended license.

X was originally scheduled to be released on July 1st, but a number of  issues while in prison—including disorderly conduct, disrespect towards the staff, possession of drugs and unauthorized smoking and other charges—caused his incarceration to be extended.

Hopefully he’ll stay out of trouble and jail this time.
