David Stern Cancels The First Two Weeks Of The Season

Bad news for NBA fans, tonight after much speculation league commissioner David Stern announced he was cancelling the first two weeks of the season and doubts a full 82 game season will be played this year. Players Union executive director Billy Hunter estimated the players losses at $350 million per month the season is locked out and that doesn’t include the effect on the thousands of stadium staff, security etc.

At the heart of the lock out is the players desire to get 53% of revenues while owners would like them to have 47% according to Stern.

The Daily News is reporting that Hov will perform eight shows next fall at Barclays. The rapper appeared live from the arena’s construction site for an interview with local Fox 5’s “Good Day New York” on Monday (September 26) to talk about the performances. He also formally announce that the New Jersey Nets will officially be known as the Brooklyn Nets when the NBA team moves into arena next year.

“The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,” Joe McGinniss’ new book alleges that Sarah Palin had an affair with basketball player Glenn Rice in 1987 when he was a freshman in college and she a young sports reporter! The hook-up allegedly occurred only one year before she was married. The book will be published on September 20, 2011.

Rice went on to lead Michigan to the title in 1989, and then had a very productive NBA career (he was a phenomenal shooter). He wound up marrying the gorgeous Christina Rice, but that fell apart when he found a man she was having an affair with in the closet of a house they used to share together. Rice beat the crap out of the guy (the man needed nine stitches).

Jalen Rose Sentenced To 20 Days In Jail For Drunk-Driving!

Jalen Rose has been sentenced to 20 days in jail after being arrested for drunk driving in Oakland County. The former NBA star was arrested on March 11, after a breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level to be 0.12. Jalen plead guilty to the charges and is scheduled to report to Oakland County Jail on August 2nd!

Steve Francis Accused Of Sexual Assault

Former basketball star Steve Francis is being accused of sexual assaulting a woman in Texas last year.

According to reports by TMZ:

Francis allegedly “groped” a 20-year-old woman through her clothing in May 2010 … and the woman immediately went to the cops to file a complaint.

The alleged victim tells TMZ … she is a singer who was signed to Steve’s record label and on the day of the alleged incident, she had met Steve at an office to discuss her contract.

The woman, Shauna Simien, tells us the “groping” while the two were talking outside, when Francis reached down and grabbed her between the legs.

Simien claims she screamed for him to stop — and that’s when a few of her friends, whom she brought along for protection, rushed over to break things up.

Despite the fact Simien filed her police report more than a YEAR ago, law enforcement sources tell TMZ the case is still open and no charges have been filed.

Simien says she is frustrated the case has not progressed and is considering a lawsuit against the District Attorney’s office.

Now that the negotiations between NBA owners  and players has reached a lock out Kobe Bryant is looking to put together a tour that may have him heading to one of his biggest markets, China.  Since the NBA owners say they are losing money and want a larger share of the league’s $4 billion revenue Kobe Bryant and other high profile stars like Derrick Rose are in the early negotiation stages for a potential exhibition tour of China if the lock out continues for an extended period.
