HTC Buys 51% Of Beats By Dre For $300 Million!

Taiwanese phone maker HTC has acquired 51% of Dre’s Beats Electronics For $300 Million

“When Jimmy and Dre started this, they had a very specific vision of what Beats would be,” said Beats Electronics president Luke Williams. “It wasn’t about headphones, it was about fixing the degradation of sound.”

HTC Chief Executive Peter Chou said, “This will give us opportunity to innovate, they really would like to deliver studio-like sound quality.”

50 Cent To Appear On Next Detox Single “The Psycho” & Possibly Going Independent!

 

After publicly stating his current dissatisfaction with Interscope Records and its president Jimmy Iovine last week, rapper 50 Cent has been making the rounds as the topic of numerous headlines and stories.

The rapper recently dropped a new song “Outlaw,” and announced that his new album and headphones will be released this November.

50, who was said to be hard at work on his fifth studio album, said the following on Twitter last week: “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page.”

“We” meaning 50 and Interscope Records.

50 spoke to MTV News and said “What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it’s Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with Jimmy, we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff.”

The recent meet-up with Dr. Dre produced more than just some common ground for the two titans.

They managed to create, write, and record what is said to be the next single off of Dre’s long-awaited, perpetually in-the-making, album, Detox.

The song, titled “The Psycho” (no relation to Before I Self Destruct’s “Psycho” with Eminem), could be hitting the airwaves any day now, or maybe not, when it comes to Detox, nothing is ever certain.

The doctor has a new partnership with the auto-mobile company Chrysler. Beats by Dre’s will now be included in the 2012 300 Sedan. Dre will be responsible for the sound system in the new car.

CEO of Interscope Jimmy Iovine will also be involved with Dre on the project.
“Our partnership with the Chrysler Group will set the bar for the way music should be heard in cars,” said Iovine. “Beats By Dr. Dre has always been about restoring the emotional music connection between an artist and the listener, and Chrysler vehicles beginning with the Chrysler 300S will let drivers hear music the way the artists intended, replicating the feel and the sound that artists and producers work so hard to achieve.”

It has also been announced that Dre will be in commercials for the vehicle just as Eminem was.

VIBE: After announcing that you would be selling your Sleek headphones, you tweeted that Dr. Dre was mad at you. Is he still mad?

50 Cent: I met with Jimmy Iovine and he’s not angry with me. He has a closer relationship with Dre. Me and Em are like Cain and Abel. You can figure out which one is the bad one. I get the bad guy hat because I’ll execute without their knowledge, because I can make the deal on my own. Em can too, but he has no interest in it.

That sounds like the same reason you would criticize Game or Yung Buck.
Let me explain something to you: If it was up to me there would be G-Unit South. Young Buck would be running that. I told him to run with that. When I did that, it was for him to present himself as a bigger artist to the Southern community.

Game—I wish nothing but the best for Game. As far as Black Wall Street is concerned, he did that prematurely. Then he turned around and told me to kiss his ass. If you can interpret that as me trying to keep them under my wing, that’s just a fucked-up interpretation.

Congrats: Vado Lands His 1st Major Record Deal w/ Interscope!

 

Harlem emcee Vado is reportedly joining the Interscope Records roster.

Cam’ron told Angie Martinez of Hot 97 FM that his protege signed the deal recently.

“Shout out to DJ and Jimmy Iovine at Interscope; we appreciate that. I’m really excited that he’s getting the opportunity to do his thing on his own,” said Killa.

Vado’s Slime Flu album got him major recognition last year and being cosigned by Cam’ron as the new voice of Lenox Avenue has solidified his New York presence.

The Harlemite supposedly turned down the XXL Magazine Freshman cover but it hasn’t slowed down his buzz as his Gunz ‘N’ Butta CD with Cam’ron is due in stores on April 12th on E1 Entertainment.
